As I'm sure most of you have already heard, I will be taking over Gil's position as Director of Volunteer Programs when he leaves. I can't express enough my excitement over being given this opportunity. Animal liberation is a subject that is very close to my heart and I am grateful for the chance to work full-time with CAA.
A friend introduced me to CAA a few years ago after I got my first veg-friendly job as a chef at Ecopolitan Restaurant. The well thought out and articulated core values and strategies of the organization, such as its strong focus on farmed animals and grassroots organizing and its commitment to honesty and non-violence, were what initially enticed me to get involved. I volunteered briefly helping to co-organize the 2006 Thanksgiving Potluck and volunteered again handing out vegetarian care packages during Veg Week that same year. Around the same time I co-founded Upright Egg Theatre Company, a non-profit green theatre. Upright Egg actively promotes a vegan diet as an indispensable part of the green movement serving vegan foods at most performances and providing an elaborate vegan meal during our annual winter holiday charity event. When I am not busy with theatre I enjoy gardening, cooking, preparing raw/living foods, being in the wilderness and reading.
I have really enjoyed meeting everyone at CAA so far, and I hope to get a chance to speak with each of you one-on-one over the next couple of weeks.
